Summary[edit]
DescriptionThe Himalayan black bear (Ursus thibetanus) is a rare subspecies of the Asiatic black bear. 27.jpg |
English: The Himalayan black bears go in hibernation during winters. To survive this winter period, the bears need to eat and store fats before they go to hibernate. The changing weather pattern often results in a lack of available natural food and as a result, the bears get attracted to villages where they end up preying on livestock or granaries. Himalayan black bear, then there must be a food scarcity caused by growing human population, domestic livestock and climate vagaries. large scale depletion of their natural food in the wild and to compensate that they are turning towards villages. Bears are extraordinarily intelligent animals. They have far superior navigation skills to humans; excellent memories; large brain to body ratio; and use tools in various contexts from play to hunting. Bears have excellent senses of smell, sight, and hearing. They can smell food, cubs, a mate or predators from kilometers away. Their great eyesight allows them to detect when fruits are ripe. These bears are black with a whitish or creamy colored ‘Y’ on their chest. They have large ears and their hair is extra long and fluffy around their neck and shoulders. In the bear world, they would be considered medium-sized. This bear is a little more fierce than other species and will attack humans if threatened or surprised. They tend to spend a lot of time in trees in order to avoid their main predator...people. Asiatic bears make “nests” in trees for sleeping in the summer months and use twigs to make comfortable beds in the snow in winter. |
