M-A holds its 9th annual STEM Fair

The 9th Annual Menlo-Atherton High School STEM Fair was held on Thursday, March 7, in the Maker Space.

“I am excited to see how their projects continue to develop in the future,” emails M-A science teacher Dr. Rachel Richards. “Some of our students will go on to compete at the upcoming Golden Gate Stem Fair (March 18).

“Also, thank you to our top-tier judges, including M-A teachers and STEM enthusiasts from the community. Our students gave the judges a difficult task of evaluating the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, and it was extremely challenging since all the projects were excellent.”

3rd Place: Para Tabatabai & Lawrence Chao
Project: Have your lunch and eat it too. Using AI to evaluate which lunch line is quickest.

2nd Place: Emile Freeman
Project: AI-assisted in-situ medication classification. Using AI to identify unknown pills.

Project: Investigating how chemotaxis helps roundworms sense their food.

Thank you so much for the article featuring the 9th MAHS Stem Fair. I can’t tell you how proud I am of Dr. Roberts!
She’s such a hard worker (and SO forgiving when people confuse her with that lizard lady, Dr. Richards. (lol)
You could probably make it up to her with a feature about her soon to launch Biotech Lab and curriculum… just a thought.
