Family

Jorge Castro believes family is the secret sauce to his culinary and entrepreneurial success. Jorge, his sister Betty Cantu, and their parents, Jose and Maria Castro, started their careers in Guadalajara, an international destination for Mexican cuisine. As an eight-year-old, Jorge used to help his parents serve chips and salsa to customers at their restaurant.

Since those formative years, Jorge has understood and cherished how food can bring people together. Jorge credits his father, Jose, as the greatest influence on all his Mexican-themed restaurants. Even though the parents have now stepped down, Jorge, Betty, and Edgar run their restaurant empire together.

Edgar A. Castro

Jorge’s brother Edgar is an integral part of the success of Pearl West Restaurant Group. As the mastermind behind the Bar & Beverage Program, Edgar’s innovative and out-of-the-box approach to crafting new and exciting drink menus is renowned. But it is his personal struggle with testicular cancer that truly propelled him to reach new heights in his career.

Diagnosed with cancer, Edgar could have easily let it defeat him, but he was determined to make the most of his life and work. He channeled his fight into his passion for creating new and exciting drinks at Pearl West. His determination and drive to make Pearl West’s bar program one of the best in the nation is evident in his constant research and exploring new ways to take the drinks to the next level.

Edgar is also a gifted musician and audio engineer. He often draws inspiration from his passion for music production and songwriting when creating new drinks for Pearl West. He is also actively involved in the cancer community and works closely with others going through their own battles with the disease, determined to help others who may not have the support he had during his journey with cancer.
