Zombies. The fae realm is overrun with ZOMBIES.

Against all odds, I mastered the magic gifted to me by the gods and won the Faerie Games—a twisted, televised game to the death.

After winning the Games, I was supposed to be free to return home to Earth. But that was a lie.

Now a deadly plague is rampaging the realm. The Otherworld is dying, and I might have the power to save it. If I can pull it off, it’ll be the perfect bargaining chip to get back home.

I’d be a lot more confident if my soulmate, Julian, was fighting by my side. But he broke my heart and turned on me. For reasons I don’t understand, he’s been working behind my back with the Empress of the Otherworld this entire time.

The only person I can trust is myself. So it’s time to step into my role as the Queen of Wands and beat the fae at their own game—or die trying.

Get ready for a magical, twist-filled, rollercoaster of a ride in the EPIC conclusion to the Faerie Games series—The Faerie Plague!

Rushed ending

I really enjoyed this series but I felt the ending was rushed. Selenas story is at its end and I feel like there are still a few too many loose ends v

Holy cow, it's finally the final book! More quests, a pleage an overly powerful wand, and both questing groups are now finally together with the single quest to save both realms... and yet I was board for most of this. I think I would have liked it, had I liked any of the characters. Unfortunately, because I had no investment in... well, anything... this entire series was just long and tedious. I'm so glad it's done... and I won't be going to the best friends series that will no doubt spin off from this... if it hasn't already.

A fitting conclusion to a wonderful series. I enjoyed each and every book in 'The Faerie Games.' Selena's journey has been exciting and thrilling from the very beginning and it ends here. I think that the strongest point of these books is great world-building. The Otherworld has been so much fun and I enjoyed all the characters that are introduced in this book. Mages, witches, faeries, and even gods are seen walking through these pages. All in all, a great read and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good paranormal adventure.

~~~~ SPOILERS AHEAD ~~~~
~~> This book was quite the finale. This was such a fast paced read, I enjoyed every second of it.
~~> I will admit that I spent majority of the book obsessing over Cassia's fate in the Underworld and if Selena would be able to get her out. I do feel that once Torrence gets out of Ember, there will be drama between Selena's two VERY different besties.
~~> I was a little upset with Torrence and Selena's reunion given how much the dark magic has consumed Torrence. They both just kept hurting one another without knowing and I really wonder what it's going to be like when they reunite.
~~> I was also really suspicious of Skylar and how she was acting at the party, but I think she might have left out the fact that Torrence was going to Ember so Selena would let Reed go and that was why she was acting strange.
~~> Overall, I really enjoyed this read and this series in general. I looked up the order for the Dark World series and kinda disappointed that I hadn't read the other two series before picking up the Faerie Games, but I will go back and read the others after I'm finished with the Dragon Twins (I really want to see what happens with Torrence and Reed)😩💗
~~> edited: OKAY SO I JUST READ THE BONUS SCENE AND NOOOO, WHY IS TORRENCE ACTING LIKE THAT??? I think this book + the bonus scene just made me dislike Torrence a lot more than I would have thought. It kinda hurts me that she was consumed by the dark magic and now acts out but maybe (hopefully) it gets better. 🤞🏽
Loved this book at the end of the other one in was so pissed off at Julian. Now we finally found out he was being such a butt. I got to say Michelle has a way of pulling me in where I am rooting for or cussing the characters. But that's just how good of a writer she is. I feel that if you can pull me in that much then I am hooked and you've done your job as an author. She never fells to disappoint and she'll keep you on edge with where the story will go and who is going to pop up next in the book.
What an ending!! This was so exciting, thrilling and had me on the edge of my seat. I absolutely loved it.
I love how much Selena has changed she is truly the Queen of Wands!
I have loved every single series in this world and can not wait is in store for us in the next one!
Michelle has an incredible gift at transporting you to the world she has created with her brilliant words.
Can not recommend this book enough!
This was a decent end to the series. Julian and many others are sick with the plague. Now Selena is trying to find the cure. Of course some people are after her. Thankfully in the end it all works out. I'm also glad that we find out that Torrence is a part of the next series. Otherwise I would have been mad about her ending.
I was pretty nervous about how this story would end but I actually really liked it. A lot of things about this series have surprised me and I’m thinking about giving the author another shot and reading one of her other series.
I read ARCs of the other books in this series and I really enjoyed them, so I couldn't wait to read this one to finish the series! It's also been a while since I read an ARC of the fourth book in this series, so I'm really happy that the author included a section of where the last book ended because it's been a while lol! After reading this book, I can say that the author continued on the plot perfectly! I loved the pace it developed at and I zoomed through it because I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next! The plot also went in a different direction to what I was expecting, but there was a lot in it! I loved the hints of romance in the plot as well and that there were some action and suspense scenes! The characters were again amazing and made this book even better! Selena was again the main female character, and in this book she was dealing with a betrayal that broke her and changed a lot for her! She then had even more to deal with and try and get home! I felt like Selena tried her best and she did what she had to do! She had also grown a lot as a character and knew what she had to do! There were plenty of secondary characters in this book and these included Julian, Torrence, Reed, Sage and Thomas! All of these characters added a lot to the plot and made the plot even better! It was also interesting to see Torrence's journey because she's played quite an important part in this series and had changed a lot! I loved Julian and Reed because they provided the romance lol! Sage and Thomas also weren't in this book as much as they'd appeared in other books! This book was only written from Selena and Torrence's point of views, which made sense in a way because they were on different journeys that eventually connected and forged into one journey! The other books in this series have been written from more than two point of views, so it was fun for this one to only be written from two point of views! I loved this book being written through Selena and Torrence's eyes because they had both been through a lot and changed and grown from the first book! I'm really sad that this book is the final book in this series! I've enjoyed the characters journey and what a journey it's been! The ending was left open in a way, but there was a reason for this! The ending was left at the perfect place though for Selena's journey and how far she had come! It was revealed at the end of this book that the author is writing a spin-off series for Torrence, which I'm really excited for! The first book is supposed to release in September and I'm definitely looking forward to reading it, especially after the ending of this book! The ending was left at a big cliffhanger! The cover for this book is absolutely stunning and suits the book perfectly! I loved it as soon as I saw it and I love how well it suits the other covers in the series! The cover model is the perfect Selena as well! Big thank you to Michelle for an ARC of The Faerie Plague!
This is the finale of Selena & Jullian’s story. There are so many threads for Selena & Friends to address with the Empress. First for Selena is Jullian’s betrayal, can she ever trust him again? Then the Demon & Witch creating the plague need to be found which would involve another perilous journey. A cure needs to be found. But that’s not all for these fated mates, Selena needs to get back to avalon with speed & warned not to deviate if so will she regret her decision? there are still the half bloods to free from confinement & servitude. Now with the euraphilm army at her back will the empress accept a new proposal? for the Faeworld and Avalon. Phew!! Michelle Madow has packed The Fairie Plague with her cleverly inventive skill. It’s phenomenal that she created this series from her imagination with gripping originality pouring out throughout every chapter/page of this whole series. I don’t like spoilers as this author deserves every reader to become one with these characters, feel their emotions and the challenges from the very beginning. What turned from a story about a young girl wanting a few hours of freedom into a deadly, traumatic journey for Selena as she becomes trapped in another realm as we connect with The Fairie Games. Along the way her best friend Torrance who did everything she could to rescue her ended up with consequences that she may never be able to return from, I just hope we will hear from these characters in future series from this proficient ingenious author Madow.
Not bad...
It's a 3.5 because the ending wasn't a huge war I was envisioning, it ended with future promises. Instead of a end, it felt like this whole time, we were just following Selena, not the war in the Otherworld. Looked at that way, and it feels like I've been on a completely different journey. She strived so hard for her goals and we don't get to see them...
I thought everything else was good. I thought the broken fae were cool to see in action. And dumb stuff happened toward the end and I felt better skimming, and no I don't feel bad because I just can't accept that she would choose the very last chapters to NOT listen to her future-seeing birth father. It read like a plot post.
Overall, I like this series better when I treat it all as one big story that just leaks into another series.
Great ending to this series. I love that Selena and Julian find the Faerie Wand and how Selena sets the half-bloods free. I love that she is able to find the cure for the Plauge and save tons of people. I loved that she finally killed the demon and was able to return to Avalon. I hate that Torrence had to fulfill her promise and return to Circe. I love that she killed her and escaped but hate that her and Reed were sent away for having dark magic. I can’t wait to read the next series.
This has had me hooked from the very start and this book 5, the final book is every bit as addictive as the other 4! Well written this amazing Otherworld has grown and developed with each book and the journey has been exciting and intriguing and at times had me on the edge of my seat gasping! Twists and turns, surprises, this paranormal adventure has been one hell of a rollercoaster ride that I am sorry to see end but oh what an ending it is! Simply superb!
What a fantastic ending to this series. Of course it also gives a great lead into the next spin-off series. In this book everything comes together for Selina and Julian and all the Fae - both full and half-bloods. Of course, there is plenty of action along the way. I am so looking forward to the new series later this year.
Selena has grown so much throughout this series. She is no longer the scared, sheltered girl that we first met. She has overcome so many trials and challenges and they have made her a force to be reckoned with.
The Faerie Plague was captivating! There were jaw dropping, gasp out loud moments and moments that steal your heart. It was filled with rich detail that made the story come to life and hard to put down. This was a great ending to an amazing series!
I love this world and every series in it and I absolutely can not wait for it to continue!
Oh wow! Where to start? There was so much to take in. So much to conclude. So many new beginnings to lay the path for. All masterfully woven together into the final installment of the Queen of Wands. Where to next? Are we ever going to be rid of the demons?
I felt like this book ended abruptly. All this work and drama for it to end in like 1 chapter. I don't know what I was expecting but it was definitely more considering I had invested 5 books into this series. Overall, this series was a struggle to finish. I kept losing interest which RARELY happens to me. I'm sure it's great for YA readers but for someone a bit more seasoned like myself, I'd give it a pass.
Hunger games fans will like this series, but i recommend reading the authors other series (two before this first). I really like the plot of this series, writing and characters. What I dislike is the MFC is self shaming and takes little responsibility for her actions in killing people which is disturbing when you consider target audience.
Reread June 2021: This wrapped up fairly well though I will say I cared far less about the happenings with Torrence than I did the first go around. Before that’s what I was most excited about but this time the ending really dragged for me because of it. I still plan to get on to the next/current series eventually though I’m not sure what that’ll be.
This was such a fun series. Maybe not expertly written or crafted (I am not faulting Madow whatsoever and it WAS well written in my opinion) but so fast paced and so much fun. It almost read like fanfaction, and I mean that in the best, best possible way. I enjoyed Selena’s journey and I’m excited for more of Torrence in the new series that’s coming this fall. Madow has definitely made a fan of me!
Selena & Julian finally happy!
Selena learns to play just as strategic as the Empress. She gets a backbone. I was thrilled by this turn of events. Glad in the beginning of the book they explain what happened when Selena tried to portal home. Especially because she thought Julian had teamed up with the Empress against her. I hope in the spin off series we find out what Lilith is going to do with a dragons heart. If not maybe she will make a spin off to continue what happens to the halfbloods and with the demon war.
I've spent the past week devouring this series. The funniest thing about it is that it has a continuation series that I already had on my wishlist (which has now gone straight to the top) that I didn't realize was related. These books are incredible but I can't tell you much more without a few potential spoilers
Still reading? Okay, this series has a little bit of everything. It's like Hunger Games X ACOTAR X Big Brother X Triwizard Tournament X Percy Jackson. Possibly even a couple of Dragon Age: Inquisition references? There's every kind of lore and mythology you can think of. Roman and Greek gods, fae, witches, mages, shifters, vampires, demons, pegasi, seers...the list goes on. It's a just a little spicy but VERY addictive. HIGHLY recommend.
That said, there are two trigger warnings I feel are necessary. Neither are particularly graphic.
The first is self...unalivement. It sounds worse than it is. A particular immortal character decides that they have completed their destiny and wants their soul to move on to a place they can be happy. It's really not at all sad and rather sweet. I was happy for them.
The second is SA of a teenage character by an immortal being. It's not at all descriptive and the act is merely alluded to and is cut short. I personally did not find it triggering and it just made me uncomfortable to think about, but I felt it necessary to give you all the explanation and let you all decide for yourselves if it is something you are comfortable reading.
The biggest reason I give this book 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the age of the main characters. Remember when I said it was spicy? Here we go into the spoilers. Torrance and Selena are 16 years old. The gods give Selena birth control and Torrance is sexually assaulted by the sorceress Circe. As I'm sure this book series is marketed towards the YA audience, it might seem natural that the characters are that age. As an adult reading this, I was EXTREMELY uncomfortable reading about 16 year olds having sex. Don't get me wrong, I was doing the same thing at their age. But reading about it makes me feel like I'm doing something illegal. If you're going to have explicit sexual scenes, for the love of God, at least make the characters of legal age so it doesn't feel so creepy reading about it.
The last book in the a phenomonal series you just can't put down once you start! In this episode you find Selena coming into her own with a strong personality and increasingly having to use her magic. The characters have become your favorites throughout the series. You are taken on the craziest roller coaster ride. You see Sage and Thomas in the beginning and then they go back to Avalon. You enjoy the love/hate relationship between Reed and Torrence. And of course you see Selena and Julian, soul mates who together with the others bring the fight against the zombies while looking for the Demon causing the problems and the witch that is the demon's sidekick in order to find the cure to the plague afflicting Socha's kingdom and the Otherworld. Kill the thousands of zombies and the Demon and capture the witch and force her to give them the cure to the plague. How hard can that be? And the side theme of having to get the Circe's staff back from King Devin in time to give it back to Circe so she won't keep Torrence in Aeaea forever which was the crazy bargain she made with Circe. With hours left to do that they are once again sent on a chase to exchange the staff for a dragon's heart to satisfy King Devin. With Selena, Queen of the Wand and amazing powers they set out! What happens next takes you on a ride you just can't get off! And the ending....Wow! And now we are blessed with an epilogue. Although this is the end of this series, I just know the spin-off with Torrence is on its way! We all hope! Michelle creates an amazing movie in the mind with her ability to describe not only the characters and their personalities, but the enviroment as well. This has become one of my favorite paranormal series ever! I received and ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own
This book dragged on and on for me and when I put it down I wasn’t inclined to pick it back up.
A lot of stuff happened but it wasn’t intense or didn’t really make sense.
The plot itself didn’t tie together nicely.
The ending was ridiculous.
Cassia comes back to life for no reason, and an additional “quest” is added so that they can spin off another series.
The dragon twins was a major plot point and it’s never touched again because that’s what the next series is based on and I hate that. I hate the concept of introducing something so big just to make another series and not touch on it AT ALL again in the main series.
Selena doesn’t go back to the otherworld and we see no resolutions on that front? Stuff is implied but we don’t SEE if it works or not.
Furthermore Torrence got very annoying in this book, with emotions that didn’t really make sense and the relationship with her and Reed didn’t make sense, all of a sudden they loved each other? They didn’t show much other than conflict, and maybe it hints that they’re mates?
I am usually in love with a series after this many books, but I’m very meh towards it.
Season three in Dark World ends with this fantastic book. Selena has grown so much in the span of five books. From a powerless sixteen-year-old girl to a powerful, mature young woman fit to lead her people, the half-bloods. She thrives under a tremendous amount of pressure—what a remarkable young lady.
My favourite scene in this book was when they raced against time to get Circe's staff back from King Devin. It was nerve-wracking!
Before the wrap-up, we read some tidbits of what to expect in season four, the last series in the Dark World. The prospect seems terrifying since Selena and the teams had indirectly caused harm to the shifter. On the other hand, it's exciting as we get to read about the twins and continue the story about Torrence and Reed because there's still so much to learn about the couple.
Overall, I liked this series compared to the previous two. By the way, Michelle still owes us a celebratory festival back in the Otherworld to celebrate the crowning of the year's champion! Just kidding, it's not essential. But I wish to get a glimpse of Selena's progress with her half-blood in the Dragon Twins series.
Okay, hear me out. Better than I expected!
No seriously, this series has the plot and the story line to tie you over until the author learns how to write! Okay, okay, that was mean and frankly, untrue. I love Madow's book, I do disagree with the writing style but that's neither here nor there. This story was the conclusion that this series deserved. I'm so glad about the ending ending, and frankly, I do not care about Torrence. Like at all. Her entire plot line was unimportant to this book so I'm hoping she shows up in the next series or else I have more questions than answers and that is not something I can live with.
Should you read these? I mean, up to this point, the series is technically 17 books long, with 4 for the next series (thus far, idk haven't read it, just heard of it the other day.) The first series is a fun mid. The second series is arguably worse since it's unnecessarily stretched, but it's also more action than the first. This series? I found that the books were a great length, emotions were tough, characters were good for the most part. Yes, I'd say that this is the best one and I am excited to start the Dragon Twins.
Selene has recovered the wand and has now become the Queen of Wands. She is learning how to channel her Jupiter magic as well as her witch magic and fae magicthrough the wand to learn her full potential for healing with it as well as using it as a weapon. The last thing her father says to her before he leaves is that she must do her duty rather than follow what her heart wants to do as the predicament Her friend Torrance is in with Circe because of Circe’s staff,
The book finishes, for now, with Selene’s story and leaves us with a cliffhanger in Torrance’s story as it sets us up for the next series of books.
The character development for Torrance is just beginning to be more than a series of quick sketches we have had up until now and the transition of the focus from Selene to Torrance seems a bit rough and rushed; not enough to take you out of the story, but not as smoothly done as had been done with other characters in the series. Well worth your time to read the entire series.
Fast paced and detailed world building
I started with the Dragon Twins Book 1 and am waiting for book 2...meanwhile I read this series through the weekend one after the other. The characters and relationships are compelling and you feel like you’re there with Selena as she grows and makes her very tough decisions and faces seemingly insurmountable odds. This kept me turning the pages, and the only thing I would offer in making the stories even better for me would be to have more soft and happy moments for Selena to take a break in to help combat the rough circumstances she’s running headlong into around every corner, but then the books would be too long, eh? 😊 Thankfully, she has her soulmate...or does she?
The Otherworld is rich and vibrant and contrasts well with Avalon. I like the Fae culture and history linked to the ancient Roman gods and then the world of King Arthur adds yet another layer. Ms. Madow weaves them and all their respective magical elements together skillfully. I’m ready to learn more about all of it in Dragon Twins Book 2.
This series is brilliant! There were so many surprises throughout, that I didn't know what the author would throw at us next. At first, it had a feel of "the Greek Gods control the Hunger Games" and I thought it would be 5 books about how Selena makes it through the games. WRONG! It's written like an epic fantasy tale where you cross worlds and dimensions multiple times. You meet many different types of supernaturals (even within the same species) and you learn about them in layers. Oh and did I mention the action? It seemed like every other chapter I couldn't catch my breath as Selena and Julian were thrust into another debacle of mayhem. It's steamy without being smutty which is perfect for not distracting the reader from the amazing storyline. I highly recommend this series and the next one to come. Looking forward to Torrence's story! LOVE LOVE LOVE with 5 stars applied.
The Faerie Plague (Dark World: The Faerie Games Book 5)
Michelle Meadow has done it again, her writing is incredible and so vivid. Can’t believe this is the last book of the series!!!! Oh my gosh, this was such an amazing book series ! This will not let you down, it’s a must buy! ❤️❤️❤️
I really loved reading this book. I love the characters and the story line.... The ending of this story is great, even though it’s a cliffhanger, for Torrence & Reed, but not for Selena and famous and friends.....
In my opinion, I really hope to read about how Selena and Julian are doing, did they get married , kids, etc..
How is her duties going for both the underworld and Avalon.
I would definitely recommend this series.. You will not be disappointed.
Now, onto “The Transcend Time Saga”can’t wait to start the new adventure with Michelle !!!
