Since establishment in 2011, KoBIA has quickly grown as an institution representing the biomedicine industry in Korea. We are putting utmost efforts for the development of the biopharmaceutical industry

OECD predicts the Bioeconomy to 2030 which refers to the integration of biotechnology applications across sectors brings revolution in economy. It is estimated that the biomarket would reach 4.4 trillion dollar, which is 800 billion dollar more than combined market of top three industries including semiconductor, automobile and chemical products in 2030. There is no doubt that bioindustry has become a megatrend in name and in deed.

The government¡¯s roadmap for lifescience also shows expectations for the bioindustry. The roadmap is to increase the Korea¡¯s bio industry shares in the global market to 5% within 10 years, create 120,000 decent jobs and creat business startup ecosystem to support 1,000 startups.

Along with this trend, KoBIA actively cooperates and communicates with all government ministries related to bioindustry such as Ministry of Food and Drug Safety(MFDS), Ministry of Health and Welfare(MoHW), Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy(MoTIE) and Ministry of Science and ICT(MSIT) for the development of biopharmaceutical industry and strengthening competitiveness of member companies.

We also make efforts to attract innovative support for bioindustry, especially biopharmaceutical industry, by cooperating with the National Assembly responsible for legislation and determination of government budget.

KoBIA takes the lead in proposing and amending policies related to biopharmaceuticals for progress in the biopharmaceutical industry and improvement of member companies.

I¡¯d like to ask our member companies to utilize our association as a window of communication and domestic and overseas networking venue.

Please provide proposal and opinion for the establishment of regulations and preemptively and reasonable policy improvement for biological products
