There’s no need for prior experience to participate in this kayak adventure, expertly led by professionals. Bowman Bay presents an ideal setting for novices to get a taste of sea kayaking, with its breathtaking landscapes and abundant wildlife. While the tour takes place in Deception Pass State Park, we specifically avoid the rough waters near the bridge, which are more appropriate for highly skilled kayakers. Don’t pass up this exceptional chance to view Deception Pass State Park through the distinct viewpoint of a sea kayak if you’re planning a visit!
- Not recommended for children under 3 years of age. Please call if you have questions.
- Not recommended for people exceeding 265 pounds.
- Not recommended for people taller than about 6’5”. Call if you have questions.
- PLEASE CALL US AFTER BOOKING. Due to the nature of booking on a third-party site, and our small group size, we highly recommend giving us a quick call after you book to make sure that your preferred departure time works for you. During the busiest days we often run full. In the unlikely event that your preferred trip is already full then we will definitely get you out on a trip leaving at a similar time. We just don’t want to cause you any disappointment. Thank you!

Drive down Bowman Bay Road to the stop sign at the bottom of the hill. Take a left. As you enter the large parking area you will notice our kayak shed under the trees on the East side of the parking lot. Park where you like and come meet us!

Kayaking in Deception State Park - My husband and I spent a few hours on a beautiful fall day kayaking in Bowman Bay. The guided tour was exceptional with Emma as our guide. Although we have kayaked in single kayaks before, this was our first experience in a tandem kayak. The boat felt safe and sturdy and Emma was patient in giving us tips about paddling and working together. We were able to see a few blue herons and other birds. We also paddled into a secret cove. Such a gorgeous area. The Anacortes tour is well worth your time and is a great way to spend a few hours. It was the highlight of our trip to the Pacific Northwest!

Girl Scouts say thank YOU AKT@@ - I recently took 40 Girl Scouts out on the 90 minute tour from Bowman Bay. It was the first sea-kayak experience for most. Our guides Jay and Tim were very thorough in reviewing all the safety pieces, were extremely patient with the teenagers, and when the wind picked up guided us all to safety. Thank YOU for not only a fun experience, but also the seal sightings and the salty sea kelp snacks. We'll be back.

Beautiful tour - We took the bioluminescence tour at sunset. We saw so much wildlife--porpoises, seals and birds--and the bioluminescence is magical! Our guide, Quinn, did a great job sharing stories, history and facts about the area. We like to do things on our own more often than through a tour, but as we were coming from out of town, the convenience of jumping in a rented boat with all the accessories and having a guide who knew where to go and was familiar with the currents was perfect.

Gentle cruise around the bay - My wife and I decided this kayak tour would be a fun way to get out of the house for an afternoon. It was well worth it. Emma, our guide, was great. Super friendly and knowledgeable about the local species. We will definitely be back for some of their longer trips.

Great outing with family & friends! - We thoroughly enjoyed our kayaking trip! We went with a group of 11 during our camping trip at Deception Pass State Park. It was great for all the ages we had: 4-11 year old kiddos and all us grownups. Not only was guide verbally engaging throughout (the safety demonstration, the time on the water, and getting back up onto land), Blake took his time making sure all guests felt comfortable and heard. He took us into the beautiful waters around the park—through kelp forests, up next to rocky cliffs and small islands, describing wildlife, plant life, and geographic features. We saw a moon jellyfish, porpoises, oystercatchers, decorator crabs, great blue herons, and best of all, Blake steered us near (but not too close!) to a group of harbor seals that included 2 pups! All were delighted. He patiently answered the questions of the kids. As a parent, I really appreciated how he gave responses, asked questions in return, admitted when he didn’t know something, and gave ideas for future research once home—great modeling for our young ones. This was a fab excursion for our group, just the right amount of time during our camping trip. Thanks so much!

Great afternoon on the water - Accommodating, helpful, and friendly staff members. Our guide was great, both pointing out naturalist features and giving us kayaking tips. We had four adults and one 12-year-old. Everyone enjoyed themselves and would go back.
There is something magical about being on the water, so close to the sea life we could see growing on the rocks or, in the case of seals, swimming up to us to check us out!
