There she goes. Another piece of Glasgow’s heritage consigned to the knacker’s yard. Work has begun on the demolition of the India Buildings, a nine-bay Victorian warehouse on Bridge Street in the city’s former garment district.
After almost two decades languishing on the Buildings at Risk register for Scotland — where reports over the years noted broken windowpanes, vegetation erupting from the building’s terracotta façade and a partial roof collapse — it has arrived at the point of no return. I’m sure the owner is devastated.
