Bella Hadid flirted with the idea of following Selena Gomez on Instagram but ultimately opted out again after fans and media noticed she had quietly refollowed the singer. Hadid unfollowed Gomez yesterday, signaling maybe she isn't ready to fully (and publicly) keep up with her ex-boyfriend The Weeknd's ex-girlfriend.

Hadid and Gomez had major Instagram drama in the past, back when Gomez was dating The Weeknd in 2017. Hadid unfollowed Gomez shortly after news came out that The Weeknd and Gomez were together in January. (Hadid and The Weeknd had split just months before, in November 2016.) The Weeknd and Gomez both unfollowed Hadid in March of that year.
Gomez and The Weeknd dated until October 2017. The Weeknd would go on to date Hadid again in the spring of 2018. The Weeknd and Hadid broke up a second time in August 2019.
Gomez refollowed Hadid in November. Hadid didn't follow back then, but she did like a photo on Gomez's own Instagram in February 2020.
The two had minor Instagram drama this past November. Hadid made headlines for deleting her Instagram that Gomez left a supportive comment on. Gomez commented "That sucks" on a fan account that pointed out Hadid took down the post. Gomez later clarified that there was a misunderstanding about what happened. She asked fans to not harass Hadid. "I shouldn't of spoken without knowing the truth. I'm sorry," Gomez wrote. "Please don't be hurtful. She is a wonderful person, and it was all a misunderstanding."
TMZ reported then that Hadid and Gomez talked things out in private. Multiple sources connected to Hadid said at the time that Hadid "actually went out of her way to reach out to Selena this weekend to squash any potential beef."
Gomez and Hadid have made no comment about their relationship since.
