Frank Lampard was obviously left frustrated by Chelsea's lack of transfer action over the January window.

The Blues boss made it clear that he was after a forward who could bring extra goals and assists in an attempt to secure a Premier League top four spot.

However, he didn't get his wish and Michy Batshuayi's problems against Manchester United laid bare where the summer will go for the Blues.

Olivier Giroud is heading out the door this summer, having failed to make his move away from Stamford Bridge during the winter.

The World Cup winner has been underused this season, having failed to make the matchday squad on several occasions.

His performance on Monday night when coming off the bench showed that he still has something to offer, however it won't be next season.

Then there is the dilemma of Batshuayi, a player with talent but who has never been able to take his chance when it has come about.

Monday night was just his fifth Premier League start at Chelsea, having signed in the summer of 2016.
