The risqué 'one finger selfie' challenge is here - and it's not for the faint-hearted

It's been a year of bizarre selfie trends, and this might be the most divisive one yet

See the risque 'one finger challenge' video that started off the Internet's newest selfie craze

People have been de-robing and getting themselves immortalised in their birthday suits - all in the name of art, of course - for thousands of years.

It's not a new trend, though commissioning an oil painting / marble statue of yourself in the buff is, these days, probably quite pricey.

So perhaps it's no surprise the 'one finger selfie challenge' is now a capturing the public's imagination.

Cheaper and less time-consuming than sitting for an artist, it's the sort of trend the internet loves: Slightly mad and with plenty of scope of error.

But what does it entail? Is it easy to master and, above all, why?

Firstly, here is what it looks like

It initially took us a while to get our heads around it, but one participant got a solid 18 likes on Instagram for this, and we now think we understand.

Using solely their index finger, females only (by the look of it) stand in front of a mirror naked and take a photo with that finger very strategically placed to protect their modesty.

One millimetre out and it's game over.
