With all the emphasis on atmospheric air pollution and efforts to control it, we forget that most of us spend much of our lives indoors where air quality is quite different and often much worse than that outdoors.

This book aims to facilitate the implementation of exposure assessment methods in public health practice.

However, some actions may require specialized expertise. Sections 1 and 2 of this Guide help schools understand how IAQ problems develop, the importance of good IAQ, and its impact on students, staff, and building occupants.

The book is derived from a symposium prompted by the growing concern for air quality in homes, offices and schools, and the need for better design of investigations about indoor air quality problems and solutions.
