TAB is the systematic and methodical evaluation of HVAC systems to ensure efficient and effective operation as designed. The primary goal of TAB is to create a balanced and harmonious environment where indoor air quality, thermal comfort, and energy efficiency are optimized.

TAB technicians make sure that air and water in heating and air conditioning systems are delivered efficiently, quietly and safely throughout a building. As a TAB technician, you will be responsible for working on air and water delivery systems to meet the specifications outlined by the design engineer.

The fastest way to become an HVAC technician is to complete an HVAC trade school program. You'll learn all the skills needed for a career as an HVAC technician and have practice time to develop the skills you'll be using on the job.

Applicant must pass the TAB Certified Technician online examination to receive Certified Technician status with their NEBB Certified Firm. In addition to taking the test, the applicant must have one of the following qualifications: Four years (1000 hours minimum per year) or more of TAB fieldwork.
