William Somervile or Somerville (2 September 1675 – 17 July 1742) was an English poet who wrote in many genres and is especially remembered for The Chace.

William Somervile was an English poet. While he lived on the estate left to him by his father in 1705. He devoted himself to field sports.

Somervile is mainly remembered as the author of The Chace (1735), a blank verse georgic, in four volumes, about hunting, which was frequently reprinted.
