A generalised algorithm is developed for the simulation of this multiple effect evaporator systems with backward feed.

An evaporator is essentially a heat exchanger in which a liquid is boiled to give a vapour, so that it is also, simultaneously, a low pressure steam generator.

In multiple effect evaporators, this latent heat is recovered. • Vapor produced in the first evaporator is used as the heating medium for the second effect.

In a multiple-effect evaporator this temperature drop is created by pro- gressively lowering the boiling point of the solution in a series of evaporators.
